Florence Derbyshire - Trance Medium

I'm fairly new here and it's such a great forum.

I was hoping to pick the brains of anyone here who had any info or even recollections of the Hull Medium, Florence Derbyshire.
After searching online I could only find one tiny mention and a pdf by Mr Don Galloway - which describes a sitting he once had.

Hi, Florence Derbyshire was my Grandmother. I don't know much about her but know she was a really good medium. She worked in London for some time working for the psychic research centre. My father is her son if you have any particular questions let me know and I will try to find out any info you need.

I think it would be most interesting to learn more about the mediumship and career of Florence Derbyshire, your grandmother, and encourage you to ask your father what he can share about her and her work.

In addition to being one of the administrators of this forum, I am actively involved in researching the history of Spiritualism and am also involved in the ongoing work associated with "Psypioneer," an reputable internet journal attempting to make accessible accurate records of Spiritualism, and mediums from the past.

Sorry, I should have noticed that the recording had been posted by yourself. I find the sitting impressive and the childlike emotion expressed in the voice very touching. The accent and intonation is that of a southern English upper or middle class child which I take it that Vicky was being the daughter of a doctor and I look forward to reading both books, Dr Pearce's and your own, in due course. There is no trace of a Hull accent at all and I wonder if Mrs Derbyshire did in fact speak with one in everyday life.

Thanks for that Slatewriter very interesting, now after 2 years living with a family in Hull while at college I think everyone there had that accent, even I was a dab hand at it.

When I visit old threads like this one (on this website but also on my own) it does make me wonder what has happened to thread contributors in the years since. Often they just disappear from the topic pages.

Did they just lose interest in such subjects or did that interest switch to some other aspect of the forum or website's main focus?
