Re: Unraveling the Enigma of Psychic Surgery
A very interesting article Jim, I am not sure how I stand on Psychic Surgery, I feel I want to bellieve in it, and to some degree I suppose I do. The problem is that so many have been found to be fraudulent, it's hard to give credence to those who are supposedly genuine.
The fact that this man, making the report, has taken the trouble to do a great deal of study, including being present in the Phillipenes for so many years, I suppose goes a great deal of the way to help my beliefs.
Another problem is of course, that the evidence of the placedo effects have been proven to such great effect that again you have to question whether or not, that, that is all it is.
I suppose in truth, it is one of those things that you have to witness, to help you decide on its credability.

Hi Frank,
My thoughts tend to mirror yours. I notice that the success rates tend to be in psychosomatic illnesses that may be susceptible to such auto suggestion not those where the ailment is real and requires physical intevention.
It always remains a subject of interest to me though

Re: Unraveling the Enigma of Psychic Surgery
Yes, Jim, me too. I think you are right about that.
I am only aware of one Psychic Surgeon where there has been no explanation for his work, and that was the Guy in Brazil who used to go into some kind of a trance, (I think he was known as the Butcher of Brazil, although he wasn't a butcher, I think that was because of the way he worked) He would perform some major surgery using just a rusty pocket knife without any anasthetic. and he never used to clean it after either. I am sure you know the story.
