Edinburgh College of Parapsychology update
Hello folks for those of you who are members and patrons of the Edinburgh College of Parapsychology you will be aware of the recent events at the college. The college now has Roberta Gordon as principle and a new vitalized committee. The secretary and treasurer have been suspending due to ongoing investigations however I can confirm the College charity status is intact and it is bussines as usual and we look forwards to a new and exciting time ahead with workshops Dems and lectures returning the college to its former prestige as a teaching centre. The website still needs up dating and upgrading however it is worth a look to see the times of the dems and groups etc. http://www.parapsychology.org.uk/index.html

This was compiled for an old recording found in the college attic more artefacts have been found and the college intend to start a small museum to display them. The library is filled with rare books some signed by the authors like Sir Oliver Lodge. I believe the count is around four thousand books and nearly every rare book by the pioneers is there. I was looking for a rare book the mediumship of Arnold Clare some time ago and found it by chance in the college library the same with van knotsing and others.

Rare Books Sale
According to this week's Psychic News the College is sending to auction some 92 rare books in Spiritualist literature including some first editions.
Apparently these rare books are surplus to requirements.
The sale by Bonhams the auctioneers will take place in Kidlington, Oxfordshire on the 29th September.
Telephone and absent bidding will not be permitted.
Reminds me of Gordon Brown selling the country's gold reserves or the SNU giving the SPR valuable books from its library.
Surely the books could have been offered to Spiritualists first?
Is the College so desperate for funds?

Re: Edinburgh College of Parapsychology update
For you information the sale is canceled and the books are to be returned to the college as we speak. There is an investigation ongoing to verfy who was selling them without the knowledge of the members. Iwill tell you this I started the ball rolling with my own personal enquirys and alerted the new office bearers as to the situation which is now redressed.

Pity you didn't publish this as well, Jock:
Spiritualist historian Gerald 0’ Hara had spent dozens of hours meticulously cataloguing the contents of ECP’s library, and making the arrangements with Bonhams on the College’s behalf. He professed himself “shocked” on hearing in a telephone call from Psychic News that the sale had been cancelled.
“Nobody told me the sale had been called off,” he said. “I’m very disappointed with the whole performance of the College in this regard. I put such a lot of effort into this so that the College could maximise its financial return on the auction.”
Apologising for the confusion, and conceding that the press release was accurate at the time it was sent out, Mrs Gordon (Roberta Gordon, the new College Principal) added: “I want to thank Psychic News for all the help given in the past to Scottish mediums and events. There seems to have been a breakdown in communication and as Principal I take responsibility for that.”
One thing shines clear amidst this fog of confusion. If the Edinburgh College of Parapsychology is to have a future approaching its illustrious past, its new team members must put in place efficient communication procedures, both internally and with those through whom they seek to publicise their work.
Let us hope that the new team will be able to overcome these unfortunate troubles and restore order and unity to an institution which has done so much of note in the past.
Psychic News wishes them well.

who done it mrs nobody?
We need Sherlock Holmes in on this one, as the games afoot. Who was the vendor of the sale and to whose benifit. The college says the records and minutes of the autherisation are missing and will not say who the vendor actually is or was and neither will the Auctioneer (I asked him). Another one of lifes little mysteries consigned to history.

......however there is no evidence that it was used by Conan Doyle - it's pure speculation but good publicity for the College nevertheless.
