Re: Introduction
Oh many thanks you know people like James Randi unerve me.
I had a condition called temporal lobe epilepsy where one hallucinates and can see the people that I have loved who have died now this is a very odd phenomena including flashes of white glaring light before the fit takes place. and it worried me very much that the sceptics rubbish spiritualism and boil it down to the brain misfiring but I know these hallucinations were just blips and not about anything to do with spiritualism which is why I am keen to bone up on spiritualism. Oh by the way it is a biological condition not a mental condition now cured thank you all for your answers.
intersetingly enough the neuro who operated on me said It was known as the psychic part of the brain. (right temporal lobe epilepsy) I'm to dense for that but I do know a fool when I see one and Randi seems to fit the bill (or does he?)

Re: Introduction
Julie, as this aspect of the humanity is not transparent and obvious, it seems that folk who have not met it, or benefited from it in any way -and some religions oppose it - there will always be those who adopt an honest sceptical position.

Re: Introduction
I have a book of his. As far as I can make out, Ron was basically an engineer by trade. He has some interesting ideas. I don't know how valid they are.julie wrote:hello what about this ronald pearson bloke anyone heard of him??

Re: Introduction
well the whole thing puzzles me. but i am almost sure spiritualism is perhaps a natural phenomenon and too much research is leading people down a blind alley cos all the evidence is right under our noses. (maybe?)

Re: Introduction
I don't understand - are you now talking about Spiritualism or about Ronald Pearson?

Re: Introduction
To the best of my knowledge Ron has no association with Spiritualism. Indeed he and many other researchers appear to have little agreement with us on the nature of life after death, although we may agree that the individual life does continue.
After all, in this moden time, there are even atheists who believe in survival after death.
One thing worth looking at is the Science of Eternity although the ending piece with David Icke leaves me cold.
Part 1 of the 8 part video can be seen here. It includes a scetion by Tom Harrison on the Minnie Harrison Circle. However I am not totally in tune with all participants especially the aforesaid Icke.
The Campaign for Philosophical Freedom, run by Michael Roll, kindly mailed me a copy of the DVD to show at the Centre here. It was well worthwhile but should be used in such a context as a discussion piece.

Re: Introduction
Diverse views will expand into many particular strands as the thinker proceeds in searching. This is probably the best kind of education as we have mentally examined the immediate next step. The conclusions appear to be of lesser importance than the thinking. This is not foolproof or absolute by any means, but may provide a portal to unimagined fruitfulness. In any case, the mental examination automatically lays a foundation for further exploration.
I've been intrigued by the oft-said Spirit admonition that in our next phase we can only speak of that which we know to be so.
Wonderful!

normy wrote:I posted a reply on Skeptico. I don't think it's a question of you getting things wrong MU, it's just a waste of time debating with those of unlike mind in my opinion.
I bear you no ill will for that position, normy, you and yours certainly have a history of coming forward for decades regarding PM, spiritualism and associated subjects.
I agree, in part, and don't spend a great amount of time debating the closed minded but I do feel the debate has merit in the contrast and interest it develops. I'll tire soon of it MU is sure.
"To the right and wrong", I am speaking of my posts on Skeptiko and whether or not I have interpreted information gleaned from you, Cranley, Mac, Duncan, Jo, others which I have ripped from here, other forums, blogs, books, interviews, podcasts, commentors, etc.
That is what I am interested in being critiqued.
