Danielle Cronin: Ok, so this post may stretch the boundaries of this blog’s title given it’s about a seance conducted in Brisbane in 1888.

But ‘‘buried within the collections’’, the State Library of Queensland has discovered two original photographs taken during the event.

Project co-ordinator Myles Sinnamon writes: ‘‘the photographs are an excellent example of independent slate-writing, where (purportedly) spirits of the dead communicate with the living by writing messages on a slate in the presence of a medium.’’
