For the Fun of It
I read this yesterday in a magazine, while waiting for a friend to be released from the hospital. I had to ad lib this, but I didn't make this joke up:
There was a man who had a gambling addiction. He often spent all of his pay at the Horse Races or in casinos.
One night he had a vivid dream. In this dream he heard a voice say “Five.” Then, on the ceiling above his bed he saw the number “5” shining bright.
He felt this was a prophetic dream, telling him that the number 5 was his lucky number.
So, then he awoke in the morning, he took 5 showers. He drank 5 cups of coffee. He ate 5 pieces of toast. He went to the Horse Races and he bet $5,000 on the fifth horse in the blotter, who was coincidently named Gilt Fiver. “Boy oh boy! I’m going to win today!”
After placing his $5,000 bet on Gilt Fiver, he went and sat In the fifth row.
And his horse came in fifth.
