Re: Kardecian Spiritism news
Spiritism seems to be growing in the US: though I'm not sure how much inroads it's making into the non-Hispanic population.
Perhaps at least, people are becoming more aware of it. I met a man (not Hispanic) at a church a few weeks ago. When I told him that I was a Spiritualist, he started talking about Spiritism, Allen Kardec. . . but Spiritualism was a new term for him.

One of our members was having your problems in finding a reasonable Spiritualist group in Toronto Jim, They tried the Spiritist society but it was Spanish speaking entirely.
The similarities but crucial differences between Spiritualism and Spiritism are fascinating and important to understand.
Its a bit like the Theosophist's who wonder at times into my group. everything goes well until we hit mediumship when they go into Blavatsky theology, you are only contacting the Astral Remnant. I am caring and diplomatic in my handling this but it always tends to result in their leaving my group in support of Mdm B, probably one of the most brazen opportunists in occult history.

Re: Kardecian Spiritism news
I would opt for a Spiritist center as a distant-second alternative to a Spiritualist church, if there were one here. But there's not one of them either: and, the same language issue would be a problem for me.
I've never had much of an interest in Theosophy. I remember stopping by the United Lodge of Theosophists building in downtown Philadelphia, many years ago when I lived there. An interesting old building. Most of the people there seemed like good-natured old folks. I guess it's all right if you're looking for something to believe in.
Personally I think the best thing Madame Blavatsky ever accomplished was that her 'root races' idea helped inspire H P Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos fiction!

Now you mentioned an author who I managed to find and read every book. it was amazing how many were still in libraries if not on the shelves.
Yes I am not a fan of Theosophy I sense to much man made (sorry people made Mdm B was very creative) theology and dogma.
