The classic reason why I walked away from Christianity, in the UK when I was 14 years old, it could justify apartheid, I had huge arguments over the equality of people, even at that age,....Spiritualism never did accept discrimination, theoretically...... except in 1922, having fought originally for emancipation the USA NSAC cast the non white members away into their own organisation because of the demands to segregate whites and other races.

In the UK the organisation was never challenged in the same way, I just wonder had it have been, would Spiritualism have ever really reflected the absolute equality of all in Spirit, or just have paraphrased the words, as Christians have done....could the upper and high middle class figures who founded the UK movement really have accepted social or colour equality

Its an interesting question, how many of you can ignore their tribal, cast, colour, religuous background and accept true equality as Spirit...maybe we should have a poll.

A poll would be interesting, especially if scrupulously honest and not mere politcal correctness talking.

Good reply Hiorta but I have always been a pacifist, socialist, equality rabble rouser by preference, I loved the ban the bomb marches and standing as a Communist candidate at school mock elections in 1966...on a Christian platform lol. Its why I love Spiritualism, in reality it demands acceptance and equality just like true Christianity or any other of the great religions. sadly humanity has, so far, proven unequal to the demands and unable to realise that those demads do not require celibacy, hair shirts and self flagellation.

If there is no flagellation then I'm sorry I don't see the point in it.
