Scary Experience
Has anyone here ever experienced or heard of an incident like the following? This is from Arwater's Big Book of Near Death Experiences:
". . . a woman, who asked to remain anonymous, had an unpleasant, more hellish type of experience, not because she thought she was going to die, but because she was frightened out of her wits when she sensed a malevolent, unseen 'presence' that seemed to be threatening her.
"The woman was attending a psychic development class at a spiritualist church when she suddenly bolted out the door after sensing a negative energy that horrified her. Later, when she was alone and preparing for bed, she was overwhelmed by a dark tunnel that had formed in midair. She was fully conscious and wide awake, yet the power of the spinnning vortex sucked her in. The tunnel was large and real, and she was beside herself with fear. Inside it there was no light, just suffocating darkness. The woman fought back, hitting the tunnel sides, demanding that it release her and leave her alone. After what seemed to be a fight for her life, the tunel disappeared as quickly as it had come.
"She became convinced later on that the event must have been a negative near-death experience. The fact that she was in perfect physical health and not in the throes of a real-life, potentially fatal condition when her experience took place was inconsequential to her in arriving at this conclusion. It was that the tunnel matched everything she had ever read or heard about hellish, near-death experiences. It's possible that the negative energy she first encountered in the church may have manifested as the dark tunnel or somehow influenced the tunnel's formation. In other words, she could have brought it home with her. This cannot be determined for certain, however. "

Re: Scary Experience
Nobody responded. Does that mean that nobody here has had a similar experience? Or merely that nobody responded?

Re: Scary Experience
Perhaps the lady was not in a welcoming frame of mind and was fearful of TV-fed expectations?
There was a contact and imagination did the rest.
If she could look again at her experience, the fact that she was aware of a 'presence' might suggest that she does have an ability to perceive.
But really we can only guess at it.
I have known of folk who approached 'seances' flippantly, to get a little more than was bargained for, bringing a rapid sense of respect to them.

Re: Scary Experience
She probably wasn't flippant about it, though.
I have a hard time accepting this as either a near-death experience or as something that happened in the world of physical reality. To me, it seems like either a hallucination, OR that she somehow did make contact with some sort of malignant spirit. who made her imagine that such a thing was happening to her.
I was just wondering whether anyone here had any experiences with the second possibility.
