The Celtic Druids
The problem we have now is little was recorded by the Druids and most of today’s myths and practices by the so called Druid Order today is new age dreamed up by one man. The Druid Holy Men passed the history and rituals from father to son and the Romans wiped them out so little is really know about our ancient Celtic Heritage
Churchill’s Druids
It is a relatively little know fact that one of Britain’s most celebrated, though far from uncontroversial, statesmen, Winston Churchill, was a Druid

There is no actual evidence that Churchill was a Druid only speculation based on a photograph where he was surrounded by people in Druid costume but also by people in business suits.

Jock, I suggest you read the article before quoting it especially the author's conclusion where he admits "There is not the slightest indication to suggest that Freemasonry had any meaning for Churchill, beyond a pleasant limited social activity."
In Churchill's writings there is no mention of Freemasonry or Druids in any context at all.

Re: The Celtic Druids
Jock theer is little relevance to teh Celtic Druids because the whole history becomes very murky. I would expect that as a Scot you would be aware of the differnces between the Pictish religions and the Celtic but I believe our myth and mythology system is such that we would have little real history to go on now. As we know the picts were pushed back into Scotland (becoming the main reason for Hadrians Wall) and into ares of Wales.
Pesonally I have just a suspicion that the druids were really a pictish religion which crossed boundaries sometime.
Indeed one of our biggest problem is the modern romantisiscm of the Celts (who conquered as I remember the true Scots the Picts eventually in very bloody fashion) and the interweaving of the stories into modern fantasy.
Nowadays just about every pagan religion tries to grab bits of Celt history but it is so blended that somehow they include Angels which were never part of Celtish lore.
Its no wonder I leave this area alone in terms of any Spiritual values, its all to mixed and romanticised. However I have a deep love of history.

Never heard of that one, Jock. Are you sure it's Masonic? Or is it some other fraternity?
Many fraternal organizations use names intended to be funny - such as the Ancient Arabic Order, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (a Masonic fun and games group) - or to convey a fanciful association. The Redmen aren't really Red Indians, nor are the Masons literally stone workers.

Actually, I remember reading somewhere that membership in the Improved Order of Red Men was at one time restricted to white men!

I usually can't be a@@@d to follow links - on this occasion I did and I'm glad I did. Did you see the look on the face of the interviewer? Was it awe or horror?
